this challenge meets you there

If you're a beginner
Go from safety-pinning, living with rips that just about stay out of sight, and owning a pile of mending that's been waiting forever. And you actually need some of the things in that pile!
You'll finish confident enough to get it done yourself, and move on.
-
If you already know how to sew by hand
Go from stitches that show messily through the other side of the fabric, closed-up holes that still have gaps, and a hem that's supposed to be straight but isn't. And you actually spent half an hour on that!
You'll learn to mend quicker and better, with long lasting results.
You should not be spending $20 at the seamstress for fixes that take her ten minutes. You should not be waiting until there's a big enough "pile" so it's worth dropping it off. You bought clothes so you and your family can wear them. Right?
You're a capable, independent adult. You just need someone to show you how to do it properly. And once you know how, you'll see it's actually pretty simple.
Hi, I'm Adeena
and you can do your own alterations at home
Long-lasting ones. Good-looking ones.
It's so normal to have it stuck in your head that sewing is hard
- It's been years since you sewed last and you try to forget that last time you did.
- It feels petrifying because all it takes is one wrong snip to ruin the fabric
- You grew up in a home where sewing is outsourced- same as kashering chickens before you cook them.
But if you can follow directions, and you like being able to take care of yourself, this skill can be a life changer. So let's do this together!
In three days from now you'll have done this yourself
Here's exactly how we'll get there-
-
Day 1October 20:
Sew by Hand
- Learn 3 ways to thread a needle — and when to use each
- Sew your very first stitches by hand
- Knot thread the right way so it never unravels
- Sew a hole closed like it was never there
-
Day 2October 21:
Hem Like a Pro
- Stop a hem from falling down (you know the one that zips out fast? That one!)
- Learn 3 common hemlines and how to hem them
- Shorten a skirt to the perfect length
-
Day 3October 22:
Finishing Touches
- Iron a hem professionally
- Learn 2 techniques how to hand - sew a blindstitch hem
- Sew on a snap- the right way!
Already do hand sewing?
A few things we cover that even experienced sewists struggle with:
- How to make the hem lie flat without the fabric bunching or getting caught
- How to sew on a snap so it feels secure all the time
- How to sew a blindstitch hem on a pair of pants so it actually stays
Here's how it works
- Get an email with a demo each morning
- Watch the video and follow along step-by-step
- Share a picture of your work with us
Bring your sewing box and something to sew on.
In their words
Women who have already sewn with Adeena
Adeena's classes are amazing! I didn't know it was possible to accomplish so much in so little time.
Everything is so clear and thorough
This course took away any fear I had about trying something new
These classes are the highlight of my week
Built to be easy, not scary
Nothing here gets cut wrong — you're not slicing into fabric and hoping for the best. You're fixing what's already there.
You're sewing a hole, hemming a skirt - small, forgiving fixes. Mess up a stitch? Undo it, redo it, move on. No drama, no ruined project.
So pick up a needle- you've got this.
Before you ask
Questions that come up a lot
Do I need a sewing machine?
No. This is a HANDS ON challenge and you do not need a sewing machine. Even for the live event- no sewing machine required.
If you have one, or can easily get hold of one, then YES, please have it with you for the LIVE event.
I'm a total beginner. Will I be able to keep up?
Yes. It's built for beginners, for people who don't know how to sew and never learned. These 3 fixes were chosen because they're the simplest, most useful place to start.
What do I need to have ready?
Your sewing box with:
- Needle and thread
- Ripper
- Snipper
- Old skirt or something else to practice on.
For best results, choose a little girl cotton skirt that you don't need anymore.
Do I need to join the live event?
Need to? No. Want to? Absolutely!
This is where the fun stuff happens. You'll meet the other sewing mates, get answers to questions that came up during the challenge, and get a tour in real- time on what all those buttons and dials on a sewing machine actually do.
Ready to get your mending pile done?
- 3 days
- 20+ minutes a day
- A few things from your sewing box
That's all it takes to learn three practical fixes you'll use again and again. You'll finish knowing how to handle these mending jobs, and ready for whatever lands in the pile next.
